KM Group's Clean Up Kent campaign gathers momentum as we compile a dossier of dirt

The momentum is building in the KM Group's Clean Up Kent campaign.

Readers from across the county have been sending in their messages of support.

In an effort to keep up the pressure on the litter louts as well as those responsible for cleaning up the mess, we are compiling a dossier of dirt and are hoping to host a summit to discuss ways of tackling the issue in the coming weeks.

Kentish Gazette editor Leo Whitlock said: “We want to bring together all of the organisations in Kent and Medway who have a role in keeping our county clean and free of litter.

“We want to thank everyone who has been in touch to offer their support and sent in pictures of the grime blighting some of our major routes in and out of the county.

"The overwhelming theme of the letters, emails, Facebook messages and tweets is that people are ashamed that the Garden of England has been allowed to become so grotty.

“They want the authorities to do more to combat this problem and force those who are doing the damage to take responsibility for their
rubbish.

“As the gateway to the Continent, the feeling is we really ought to lift our game.”

The Clean Up Kent campaign was launched earlier this month and initially focused on Kent’s motorways, trunk roads and major routes.

Now we want to hear from you if you’ve seen grotspots elsewhere in the county.

Let us know if the fly-tippers have been out in force or if rubbish has been dumped near you.
