A collection of paintings belonging to a young artist have been stolen from an exhibition at the Gulbenkian Theatre in Canterbury.

The five works of art by Harley Russell, 17, were in a display of pictures on show as part of the ART31 mini festival.

They were discovered missing last Monday and the suspected theft has now been reported to the police.

The collection consists of four sunsets and a larger canvas of a half face portrait.

Liz Moran, Director of the Gulbenkian, said: "We are shocked at the disappearance of the artwork as the Gulbenkian has always been very secure with artwork on display all year round.

"We hope that this appeal encourages anyone with information to come forward in order to reunite a talented young artist with her A level pieces.”
