Friends and family held a belated 18th birthday party for Will Roberts last Saturday.

The former Canterbury High School pupil was left in a coma following a serious road accident this summer.

Will was hit by a car in London Road, Dover, as they crossed the road on the evening of August 18.

He spent a total of 94 days in hospital recovering from serious head and knee injuries.

Immediately after the accident, he received extensive treatment at The Royal London in Whitechapel before being transferred to the neuro-rehab unit at Buckland Hospital, Dover, where he was discharged earlier this month.

"From the injuries he picked up, he’s very very lucky to be recovering so well," said mum Michelle.

She added: "We’ve been told by the experts that it’s quite amazing to see how he’s getting on."

Will is now back home with his family in Querns Road, Canterbury, but has been told he is unfit to work while he continues to see specialists in both London and Dover.
