Canterbury Rugby Club are waiting to hear whether centre Pat Sykes will be fit to face Rosslyn Park at Roehampton on Saturday.

He suffered a suspected broken nose in the 31-18 National League 2 South win over Bridgwater & Albion last weekend and head coach Danny Vaughan said: "One or two things went on in the game and Pat was on the end of it.

"He thinks it’s a break and was due to see a specialist to have it straightened this week."

Prop Matt Pinnick is still ruled out with a knee injury – Vaughan describing his absence as a "big loss of a big player"– but outside centre Ben Thomas is close to a return after ligament trouble.

New centre Jay Udo-Udoma looks set to face one of his former clubs at the weekend, after making his debut against Bridgwater.

Vaughan (pictured) added: "He did all right, considering he has only just recovered from swine flu. He wasn’t that busy in the game and feeling his way back but he still could have finished with a
hat-trick of tries.

"Eddie Roche came back in the second row and had a good game. Hopefully, the rest of the squad will report fit and well at the weekend."

Rosslyn Park lost 43-19 at leaders Barking last week and Vaughan added: "It will be another challenge for us. We don’t have a strong enough squad to win the league but still think we are capable of a top six finish."
