Whitstable Town manager Peter Nott is looking for another forward after being left with an "unworkable situation" over new signing Aaron Robinson.

Nott (pictured) signed the 25-year-old winger from Deal Town in June but Robinson has only attended two pre-season training sessions because of his work commitments.

Nott said: "The door is still open for Aaron but unless he can commit to coming training every week then it’s an unworkable situation for us and we’re looking for another forward."

Robinson played and scored for Deal on Saturday but he wasn’t involved in Tuesday’s friendly at the Charles Ground, where Deal beat Whitstable 1-0.

The home side rode their luck in the last 10 minutes when Whitstable struck the bar twice through Keelan Mooney and Rob Lyall.

Centre-half Lyall was making his Town debut after finishing university but will miss the remainder of Town’s pre-season games because of a trip to Ghana.

Another of Nott’s new faces, former QPR and Wimbledon defender Jermaine Darlington, impressed after coming on at right-back for the second half.

Nott said: "Jermaine had a knee operation recently and, at 36, he was going to hang up his boots. But the operation went well and he asked me if he could come training."

Whitstable are in action on Thursday night at Corinthian before making the short trip to Winch’s Field on Saturday (3pm) to meet Herne Bay.
