Kent Fire and Rescue hand pigeon to RSPCA after fire in Wingham, near Canterbury

A pigeon has been rescued by firefighters after a blaze near Canterbury.

Emergency services were called after a fire broke out in a large commercial shed just before 4pm on Friday afternoon in Wenderton Lane, Wingham.

The fire spread to a number of vehicles and trailers inside the shed.

Fire crews brought the fire swiftly under control and had left the scene a little over 90 minutes later.

A pigeon, rescued from the flames, was passed into the care of the RSPCA.

The cause of the fire is not thought to be suspicious.
