The offer of beer for 99p a pint and a meal for £2.99 has had budget-conscious customers flocking to Wetherspoon pubs in the area.
The company says the promotion, which began this week, will run indefinitely.
Customers at the West Gate Inn in Canterbury were among those taking advantage.
“There’s been a lot of advertising in the national press and lots of customers coming in are delighted to see them,” said kitchen manager Daniel Harman.
But alcohol support groups fear a potential rise in binge drinking.
Tony Williams, spokesman for Kent-based The Kenward Trust, is among those concerned: “This isn’t the first time pubs have made offers like this.
“Alcohol addiction is a real growing concern across the county because it can be a very risky drug, which handled in an irresponsible way can lead to numerous problems for individuals and the people around them.”
But Mr Harman believes that’s a knee-jerk reaction: “For the products we’re offering I think that’s a bit off the mark.
“We’re a responsible retailer and have measures in place to prevent matters from spilling out of control.”
Wetherspoon’s pubs are offering a pint of Greene King IPA for 99p, a bottle of San Miguel for 99p, a bottle of Blossom Hill Rose for £4.99, a single measure of Sailor Jerry rum and a mixer for £1.29 and a bottle of Jacques cider for £3.99.
The meals available at £2.99 are cottage pie, chips and peas; ham, eggs and chips; sausages, baked beans and chips; spicy tomato pasta; and jacket potato and tuna mayonaise with salad.
