An elderly man stopped breathing when he collapsed while running for a bus in Borstal Hill in Whitstable this morning.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the busy road near the petrol station, at the junction with Joy Lane at 10.15am.
They taped off the area the area surrounding the bus stop while they helped the man, aged in his 70s.
Paramedics performed CPR and managed to resuscitate him, before taking him to Kent and Canterbury Hospital in a serious condition.
They left the scene at about 12.30pm, more than two hours after they were called.
One lane was closed to allow the three ambulances and four police cars to get closer to the scene, and an officer controlled the traffic flow.
