Man arrested in St Dunstan's Street, Canterbury, after altercation in St Andrew's Close, Whitstable

Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in St Dunstan's Street, Canterbury, on suspicion of assault.

Eyewitnesses say that at least four police cars were in the street at just gone 8am today.

The arrest is related to an earlier incident in St Andrew's Close, Whitstable.

Officers were called there at 7.50am to what they describe as an "altercation".

Detectives in St Dunstan's were seen dusting a small grey car for fingerprints and speaking to a woman with a buggy.

The arrested man remains in police custody.
