Teenager suffers bruising after attack in subway near Beverley Meadow in St Stephen's, Canterbury

A teenager has been assaulted in an underpass in Canterbury after a gang demanded he hand over money and his phone.

It happened in the subway leading to the Beverley Meadow in St Stephen's during which an 18-year-old was hit from behind causing swelling and bruising to his eye and mouth.

The victim who was with a friend was confronted by a group of males aged between 14 and 20.

The youth who threatened him is described as white, aged 14-15-years-old, about 5ft 4ins tall and was wearing a grey hoodie.

Police investigating the attempted robbery say it was reported to have happened around 6.45pm on Wednesday, January 18.

Detective Constable Colin Glover said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this group before or after the incident or anyone who may have seen the incident happen to come forward.”
