A fire which severely damaged a house in the city centre, in the early hours of Saturday morning, has been investigated by police.

Firemen wearing breathing apparatus searched the terraced property in St Peter’s Grove after receiving reports that someone may have been inside.

No one was found but the blaze wrecked the ground floor of the house.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
