Police officer injured in crash on A260 Canterbury Road at Denton

A police officer has been injured after a van crashed into an unmarked patrol car.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, following the incident in Denton, on the outskirts of Canterbury.

The white and blue Mercedes van collided with the unmarked car - a black Vauxhall Corsa - on the A260 Canterbury Road, shortly before 12.30pm.

The police car involved had not been pursuing the van at the time.

Police and the ambulance service attended the scene, where one officer was treated for injuries which the ambulance service described as "minor".

The man arrested has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 21-0529.

Officers are specifically appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage of either of the vehicles in the minutes before the collision.
