Police officers helped to deliver a baby girl after a woman went into labour in a car.
Kent Police dog handler PC Ed Goldswain was driving along Kingsmead Road in Canterbury when he saw a man at the roadside near the roundabout on Monday afternoon.
He stopped to see if he could help and found that man's partner was in labour in the vehicle and there was not enough time to take her to hospital.
PC Billy Knight, part of the local policing team, arrived at the scene with police medic and they helped the woman deliver the tot.
An ambulance came and took the mum, dad and baby girl to a local hospital. They were all confirmed to be well and have since returned home.
Ch Insp Gary Woodward said: “Police officers can be called at a moment's notice to any sort of emergency or incident.
“This may have been an out of the ordinary call for those PCs responding, but I am pleased their professionalism and training equipped them well to help this couple. I would like to wish mother, father and baby well and I hope they are enjoying family life together”.
