An air and land search was sparked on Tuesday lunchtime after an elderly Whitstable woman was reported missing.

The 96-year-old, who suffers from dementia, had been reported missing to police around 1pm.

The land search centred around the Duncan Down area, while the Essex Police helicopter was sighted close to the Thanet Way and Seasalter.

Following inquiries, she was found safe and well just before 3.30pm. She had been to a pre-arranged hospital appointment, but failed to notify relatives.
