Two men suspected of attempting to steal metal have been arrested after being tracked down by a police dog.
Officers were called to Wincheap Industrial Estate in Canterbury Wednesday evening following reports a thief had fled empty-handed after being confronted.
Two men were reportedly seen taking metal and loading it into a van at the city’s industrial park at about 8.40pm on Wednesday (April 19).
Following a confrontation, police were called, and a 38-year-old man from Herne Bay was arrested at the scene.
Another man, aged 35 and from Sandwich, was discovered in a nearby pub.
PD Coty aided the arrests by picking up a scent and leading his handler to a track at the rear of the premises.
There, the officers found a discarded high-vis top believed to have been worn by one of the men.
Both suspects remain in custody while inquiries continue.
