The Kent University campus is open again after the library was evacuated when a suspicious package was found.

Bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion at the Canterbury campus on Tuesday afternoon.

Students and staff were forced to leave the Templeman Library after police received a call from staff at 2.30pm.

Bomb disposal experts arrived at around 4pm to make the package safe. An investigation is underway.

The disruption came at the height of exam time with many students still on campus.
