Rail services were cancelled and delayed after a train struck a tree.
The incident happened near Sturry and blocked the line between Canterbury West and Minster.
While services are back up and running, it caused disruption for commuters across Kent this morning.
The line towards Ashford was also blocked at Sturry, but the route towards Ramsgate was able to stay open as usual.
The incident also affected the Margate and Ramsgate service to St Pancras, and the Ramsgate service to Charing Cross or Cannon Street, which all run via Canterbury West.
While some of those services were cancelled, others were instead diverted through Dover Priory.
Rail operator Southeastern put in place bus replacement services to minimise disruption.
Minster, Sturry, Canterbury West, Chartham, Chilham and Wye stations could only be served by trains towards Ramsgate and bus replacement services also served these stations.
