A man wanted on suspicion of rape has been arrested after his car was stopped in Canterbury.

The 26-year-old, who lives in the city, was taken in for questioning after his vehicle was spotted by officers in Wincheap.

An allegation of sexual assault had been made against him earlier today.

Police took to social media to tweet about the arrest shortly after 3pm.

The suspect remains in custody while enquiries continue.
