Faversham manager Ray Turner has been pushing his players in training this week – even though he expects another blank afternoon on Saturday.
The Lilywhites’ game at Burgess Hill fell victim to the weather at the weekend and this Saturday’s match with Ramsgate at Salters Lane looks likely to follow suit, with Turner saying: "There’s probably three inches of snow on the pitch and I don’t see it thawing any time soon.
"But I pulled the players in for training on Tuesday and had them running in the snow, as I believe that hard work pays dividends in the end.
"It’s important to keep the players ticking over in this situation because if you don’t they can be off the pace when they start playing again."
The Burgess Hill game has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 21, and the reserve team’s Kent Intermediate Cup home quarter-final against Ramsgate, which was also postponed on Saturday, has been rescheduled for the same night.
"It’s not ideal, but that’s what happens when you get games postponed after Christmas, you haven’t got a lot of time to fit them in," said Turner (pictured).
If Saturday’s game does go ahead, Turner plans to include new signing Sam Robinson in his squad.
He said: "Sam has played for Met Police and Merstham and can help us out in central midfield, which is an area where I have been looking to bring in some more bodies."
