Road accident claims life of pedestrian

AN 88-year-old man has died after being hit by a lorry in Chantry Lane, Canterbury.

The man, believed to have lived in the Canterbury area, was crossing the road at about 10am on Thursday when the incident occurred. He died later that day in Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

The road was closed until 2pm for Kent Police's serious collision unit to carry out their investigations.

Police wish to speak to the driver of a silver car who may be a vital witness to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Paul Biddle on 01622 600970.
