Traffic is clearing after a car is thought to have gone into a ditch after a two-car crash on the A2.

The road was earlier blocked after the accident involving a couple of vehicles on the west-bound carriageway just before the M2 turn-off and Thanet Way split at Brenley Corner.

It was reopened shortly after 9am.

A police spokesman confirmed they attended the site at just after 6.30am.

A statement added: "Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. No serious injuries are believed to have been reported.

"One carriageway remains closed while repairs are carried out to the central reservation and to allow recovery of the vehicles."
