Residents have been left with little or no running water after a main burst.

Delays are expected on the A257 St Martin’s Hill in Longport, Canterbury, which is closed to allow South East Water to carry out repairs.

In an update on its website at 6.42 this morning it said: “We're really sorry to those of you who are experiencing low water pressure or no water at the moment.

“This has been caused by a burst main which we are trying to fix as quickly as we can.

“As soon as the repairs have been completed, your water will return to normal.”

As a result the road has been closed to allow for the “safe repair” of the burst pipe.

The company could not say how long this would take but added: “We're doing everything we can to get you back up and running as soon as possible.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
