A road has been closed after a sinkhole appeared in the middle of the carriageway.
Forty Acres Road in Canterbury is shut from Whitstable Road to Rosacre Close in both directions while engineers work to fix the void.
The hole, which is just outside the church, was sealed off this morning as engineers arrived on site.
It is expected to take six days to fix with Kent Highways saying the closures will last until Monday.
A signed diversion route has been put in place.
On its online incident map, South East Water says it is aware of the issue.
A spokesman for the company said: “We attended the site of the sinkhole on two occasions to investigate the surface water and the sinkhole.
“It was confirmed there was no leak on the South East Water apparatus in this area.
“We have discussed this with Highways, who are in agreement with our findings.
“We will be updating our website accordingly.”
