Video: Cast gather for
the launch of this year's Marlowe panto Robin Hood.
The Marlowe Theatre has hit the
bullseye again at the launch of its new panto.
Robin Hood has been chosen for this
year’s production, with CBeebies presenter Sid Sloane starring in
the title role.
He posed with his merry band of
cast members next to Cold Feet actor and comedian John Thompson,
who will play the evil Sheriff of Nottingham in the panto.
Canterbury Castle, in Castle
Street, provided the ideal backdrop earlier this week for
the launch of this year’s festive show.
Sid Sloane said: “I feel great and
am really looking forward to it.
“It is my first time in Canterbury
and I am hoping that if I do a couple of years here I can get an
honorary degree like Orlando Bloom. He has inspired me.”
John Thomson said: “Canterbury is a
very beautiful place. I used to come here on day trips when I lived
in Greenwich, and I can imagine it is like something out of a
picture book at Christmas.
“I am hoping to bring my family
down for a while from Manchester and I hope the locals receive my
northern manner nicely.”
The panto runs at the
Marlowe Theatre arena from Saturday, December 4.
