Renovation work has begun on 30 properties in Wife of Bath Hill on Cantebrury’s London Road Estate.
Contractor R.R. Trading Ltd are carrying out the work on behalf of Canterbury City Council to replace roof tiles, felting and battening, as well as installing loft insulation.
Project manager Darren Kilby held a site meeting with residents to clarify a timetable for the work.
“There was a bit of confusion about what exactly we were doing, but we’ve reassured everyone they’ll be very little disruption while we carry out the renovations,” he said.
“I can assure people we will have completed all of the properties within the next three months and in most cases we will be in and out of an individual property within a matter of hours.”
The work is costing around £2,000 a property. A total of 600 homes will be improved in the £1.6million contract over three years.
The work is part of a Government-sponsored initiative known as Decent Houses Standard.
Some of the properties are up to 80 years old and where necessary, guttering as well as fascia and soffit boards will also be replaced.
