Canterbury A2 ‘road rage’ victim still in hospital as second man charged with attempted murder

A victim of a suspected road rage attack on a busy dual-carriageway remains in hospital as a second man has been charged with attempted murder.

Two men were reportedly hurt before emergency services descended on the London-bound carriageway of the A2, near the exit for the A28 at Wincheap.

One of the victims suffered serious injuries and is still receiving treatment after the attack between 5am and 5.40am on December 14.

A silver Mercedes-Benz C Class and white SEAT were involved and the victims were assaulted on the side of the carriageway.

The dual carriageway was shut all day and the incident sparked a six-week-long investigation.

Yesterday, Esmatullah Paktuiwal, 35, from Britannia Place, Plymouth, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, namely an axe and a bat.

He was remanded and will appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.

His charge follows two previous arrests on January 28, in which a 28-year-old man was charged in connection with the incident.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.
