Officers finally caught up with it in Canterbury city centre after the rider had twice before fled from them.

A tweet from the city-based police team this morning said: “After making off from officers on two occasions, this illegally adapted e-bike has been seized.

“It had no rear brake lever, no chain, a throttle and motor on the hub of 1,000 watts. The maximum is 250W on the road.”

An e-bike is a bicycle that can be powered by electricity or propelled by pedals.
