A man suffered back injuries when his car smashed into the side of a pub this morning.
Emergency crews including the air ambulance were called to New Dover Road after the grey Ford Fusion ploughed into the Old Gate Inn just after 7.30am.
Firefighters were also called to cut the driver free from the wreckage, and he was taken to hospital.
Officers shut the road between Old Dover Road and the A2, but it re-opened just after 9am.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at just after 7.30am today to a report of a collision in New Dover Road, Canterbury.
"It was reported a grey Ford Fusion was in collision with a wall.
"The air ambulance is in attendance to treat a male driver with injuries unknown at this stage.
"Officers are in attendance to deal with traffic management."
A fire service spokesman added: "On arrival crews were faced with a car that had crashed into the Old Gate Inn public house.
"The driver of the car was trapped by his injuries including suspected spinal injuries.
"Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof to free the trapped man, who was in his 60s.
"Crews assisted paramedics and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance. Crews made the scene safe."
