A woman has been held on suspicion of wasting police time after a road in Canterbury was shut off as police dealt with a woman who had climbed onto a roof.
As many as eight police cars, two ambulances and a fire engine were spotted in Whitstable Road last night.
Police were called out to the address at 9.30pm to reports a woman had scaled one of the houses and was on the roof.
Firefighters and ambulance crews stayed in the area until just before 11pm, when the woman came down.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “I popped out to my car and saw all of this commotion. There was police everywhere.
“I tried to get back to my house but the police said I had to wait because they were at a critical stage.
“There was someone who looked like a police officer with a video camera, but I didn’t know what was going on.
“A man there said a woman had climbed scaffolding onto a roof.”
People were told to stay inside their houses as the incident unfolded, with the road shut off at the junction with Westgate Court Avenue.
At shortly before 11pm a woman was seen being led to an ambulance by police.
The ambulance remained at the scene for some time after, along with four patrol cars.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of wasting police time and assault and is currently in police custody.
