'Serious sex attack' student bailed

A STUDENT arrested after an alleged serious sexual assault at the University of Kent has been released on bail.

The 19-year-old man was questioned by police after a female student in her early 20s said she had been attacked on the Canterbury campus.

She claimed it happened in the open somewhere between The Venue and Thornden Court between midnight and 4am on Tuesday.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the allegations, but are still appealing for information.

Anyone who can help is urged to contact police on 01227 868120 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously and free, on 0800 555 111.

The male student is due to return to Canterbury police station on November 30.
