New signing Shane Hamshare is expected to make his Whitstable Town debut in Tuesday’s derby against Ramsgate at Southwood.
The utility man joined the Oystermen from Faversham on Tuesday becoming the fourth player to renew acquaintances with former Lilywhites boss Justin Luchford at the Belmont.
Hamshare’s arrival is a big boost for Luchford, who has seen his struggling side concede 22 goals in their past seven games.
He said: "Shane’s a fantastic player at this level, everyone knows that. He can see what we’re trying to do and believes in what I do, which is a bonus.
"He’s a great lad, he’s fit and strong and I’m delighted to have him on board. People think it’s a done deal when managers go to another club but it’s not because players become accustomed to what they’re doing.
"He’s been at Faversham for four years and he’s got a lot of respect for the guys over there.
"Damian Abel and Lee Shearer have done the same by following me to Whitstable and my brother (Dane Luchford) has too, when he had other offers.
"Now Shane’s decided this is the right place to be and it’s a good feeling to be in that position. That’s not being disrespectful to Faversham because I love the club dearly but my job is to get us away from the bottom section of the league."
Gary Sayer and Marc Cumberbatch are both expected to be fit for the trip to Thanet, while Lee Shearer is available for selection and Dan Wisker is rated as 50-50 to play some part.
