A shopper has been left feeling disgusted after noticing huge amounts of dust in the freezers at an Asda store.
David Moore spotted the units had not been cleaned on two occasions at the supermarket in Sturry Road, Canterbury.
Mr Moore took pictures of the dirty freezers on Tuesday and Thursday last week.
“I went in there shopping and when I went to the freezer section they were quite empty,” he said.
“I could see layers of dust. Even though it is packaged food and does not touch the dust it is still not right that something like that can have layers and layers of dust.
“I asked for a manager and showed him the picture of the dust. I said to him I thought it was absolutely disgusting.
“He said they would look into it and speak to the cleaning team on Tuesday but on Thursday it was still there.”
Asda bosses say the freezer was out of use at the time and has since been repaired and cleaned.
But Mr Moore says it has put him off shopping at the store.
“That somewhere like Asda, a multi-million pound company, cannot keep up with its cleaning is just ridiculous,” he said.
“If I ran a business and someone told me something was dirty I would clean it straight away.
“It has put me off shopping there a bit because if that is dirty then what else is dirty?”
Mr Moore posted pictures of the dust filled freezers on Facebook and people commented about other areas of the shop which they noticed were also unclean.
“Several people have commented the women’s toilets are also dirty,” he said.
“They also said there is rarely toilet roll. How can that be right when they are selling aisles of toilet roll?”
An Asda spokesperson said: “This freezer was out of use due to a fault and has since been repaired and cleaned before being used again.
“We have robust cleaning processes in place to ensure that our stores are clean and tidy and we’re disappointed to receive feedback that we haven't met our high standards on this occasion.”
