Canterbury schools celebrated another year of impressive results at both A and AS Level.
At Archbishop’s School, head teacher Michael Liddicoat was delighted with how his 79 students had performed in his first year at the school.
He said: "On average, grades are slightly up on last year and there’s a wide range of abilities on display.
"Lots of students have recorded straight A’s and the vast majority have got what they needed to get to their first choice university.
"It’s been a great experience in my first year here, I’ve been made to feel very welcome and getting to know the school and its pupils has been both exciting and challenging at the same time.
"There’s a real sense of community among this year group and they have contributed very heavily to the life and soul of the place."
The smiles were equally as wide at Simon Langton Grammar School for Girls. Seven students achieved four straight A passes, including Elizabeth McDonald and Emma Bullivant (pictured left). Elizabeth has accepted a place at University College, Oxford to study classics, while Emma, who took an additional AS Level, will study civil engineering at Bristol.
Twelve other students also achieved straight A’s in three subjects, results that delighted head teacher Jane Robinson.
She said: "We’re extremely pleased that 99 per cent of all exams taken this year have been passed.
"These results accurately reflect just how hard the staff and students have worked together and we’re very proud of all sixth form girls, irrespective of whether they achieved straight A grades or C’s and D’s."
