Television and recording star Jessie J plays a central part of this year’s Sound Island Festival at Quex Park in Birchington this weekend.
The singer, who is headlining tomorrow, found fame in 2010 with her debut single Do It Like A Dude, and has enjoyed further hits including Price Tag, Nobody’s Perfect, Up and Domino.
She is also known for her role as a judge on the BBC talent show The Voice.
Rapper Plan B, real name Ben Drew, will headline the first day of the festival, which is predicted to see rain some time today.
His album The Defamation of Strickland Banks went straight to number one in 2010, featuring hits including She Said.
Other acts to perform today will include Rita Ora, currently enjoying huge radio airplay with tracks including Hot Right Now, How We Do (Party) and R.I.P; and last year’s X Factor winner James Arthur.
Concert-goers tomorrow will also be treated to performances by boy bands Lawson, famous for hits including When She Was Mine, Standing in the Dark, Learn to Love Again and Brokenhearted, and Union J, who released debut single Carry You last month.
Organisers are tipping Sound Island this year to be the biggest and best yet.
Also proving to be a hot ticket is the Lounge on the Farm festival, which arrives in Canterbury this weekend.
The eighth annual music extravaganza at Merton Farm showcases headliners including Mercury Prize-nominee Jessie Ware, blues hero Seasick Steve, reggae legends Aswad and RnB outfit Soul II Soul.
The three-day festival also features comedy, poetry, drama, burlesque, a retro funfair and children’s entertainment.
