St Lawrence and Highland Court kept their Kent League Premier Division status after beating Bickley Park – but only just.
Needing a win on Saturday to guarantee survival, Saints were indebted to keeper Paul Dixey, who top scored with 78. Skipper Lewis Jenkins added 43, but the occasion got to the rest of the line-up and they scored just 54 between them in a total of 193.
Bickley started the chase solidly, but from 150-4 the wickets tumbled and they were all out for 192 – Benjamin Easter taking the crucial wicket of No.10 Freddie vanden Bergh with more than five overs left. Charlie Hemphrey was St Lawrence’s leading bowler with 3-26.
Canterbury’s Division 1 season ended with a seven-wicket defeat to champions Lordswood.
