Man charged in connection with Canterbury robbery after three diamond rings stolen

Staff foiled a suspected robber after three diamond rings were stolen.

Police were called to a shop in The Parade, Canterbury, at 4.30pm on Monday.

A shop worker hurt their hand during the raid.

A police spokesman said: "A suspect was detained by a member of staff assisted by security staff.

"He was then arrested by attending officers."

Graham Walters, 38, of no fixed address, was charged with one count of robbery and appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.

He was remanded to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
