Faversham's festive derby with Sittingbourne on Tuesday has taken on added importance in an unusually tight Ryman League Division 1 South campaign.

The Brickies visit Salters Lane on Tuesday night a place below the Lilywhites and knowing they could overhaul their Swale rivals with a big win.

Town assistant boss Clive Walker (pictured) said: "These are important games, you want to win your home games, especially against your local rivals.

"They are good games, ones the players want to play in and you look to get a good crowd there."

Town slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Chipstead on Tuesday night, following up a 1-1 draw at Chipstead three days earlier.

Walker said: "To take a point from the two games is disappointing. Four points would have been fair and the table would have looked different if we had.

"We’d like to be higher up the league but it’s tight this year. It’s more difficult than last season."

James Peacock should be back for the visit of the Brickies after missing the Tuesday game after needing stitches in his head on Saturday, while Danny Hockton and fellow striker Adrian Stone are expected to return after hamstring injuries sustained on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
