A teenage girl accused of repeatedly throwing bottles and food at a property and hurling abuse at residents has been charged with stalking.

The 16-year-old, from Canterbury, has appeared in court after allegedly carrying out a campaign of anti-social behaviour around Sturry Road over a seven-month period.

Police have been called to the area repeatedly between March and this month, following reports of food, bottles and glass being thrown at a property and abusive comments being shouted at residents.

Following an investigation, the 16-year-old girl - who cannot legally be named due to her age - was charged with stalking causing alarm or distress.

She was also charged with intimidating a witness, on Monday.

The girl appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court yesterday, and was bailed with conditions to appear at Medway Youth Court on Monday.

Inspector Guy Thompson, of Canterbury Community Safety Unit, said: "Kent Police understands the impact that anti-social behaviour can have on victims' quality of life and well-being.

"I urge anyone who is suffering from behaviour like that reported in this case to contact us. We will investigate and take whatever actions are open to us to address the issue."
