Four young people have been arrested after two men suffered serious facial injuries in a city centre attack.
Police were called to the incident in Canterbury High Street at about 4am today, while part of the street was still sealed off by police hours later.
A group of friends had been walking along Mercery Lane towards the High Street when they were approached by another group who were "verbally abusive" towards them.
This continued along the High Street to just past the junction with St Margaret’s Street, where two men - both in their 20s - then reported being assaulted.
They suffered facial injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The four suspects had left the scene when police arrived.
A police spokesman said: "However, immediate enquiries were carried out and three men along with a woman were located at a property in Highlanders Avenue and arrested in connection with the incident."
