A tapas restaurant and bar is set to open in Canterbury's Fenwick store - replacing the Carluccio's cafe which closed last year.
Fuego, which has a number of branches nationwide and works in partnership with the department store chain, has a Mediterranean-inspired menu.
It wants to open up for business on the ground and first floors of the flagship Whitefriars unit, as well as have seating outside.
Sixteen jobs are set to be created by the launch of the restaurant, and a coffee trike offering drinks to outside diners will be stationed in the high street.
Carluccio's previously had seating immediately outside the rear entrance of Fenwick by St George's Lane, but Fuego wants to expand the available seating.
Giant parasols - protecting outside tables - are planned to run alongside the shop building down to the junction with Whitefriars Street, near to department store's main entrance.
The Fenwick website says Fuego's menu offers a "varied selection, from authentic Mediterranean-inspired tapas and the finest Italian and Spanish charcuterie to stone-baked Napoli-style pizzas".
Proposals for new signage and the additional seating have been submitted to Canterbury City Council's planning team, with Hugo Fenwick, director of renowned retail dynasty, submitting the plans.
Documents submitted with the application state: "As part of the rebranding of the restaurant the glass of the window along St George’s Lane and of the main entrance will have a new vinyl on the interior face with a gold effect pattern reflecting the brand identity.
"Furthermore, the outdoor space will also accommodate new outdoor seatings under the portico along St George’s Street and St George’s Lane. Additional tables will be located in between the doors in order to keep the escapes routes clear.
"Further seating with a coffee trike will be placed along St George’s Street close to the corner with Whitefriars Street and will be protected with jumbrellas (giant parasols)."
Carluccio's had been in Canterbury for a number of years, but the chain fell into administration last spring.
