Fire fighters have warned home owners of the dangers of leaving candles unattended after a tea light set curtains ablaze.
It follows a fire at a house in The Street, Chilham, this afternoon which broke out in a bedroom in the property.
Three fire crews attended shortly before 1.15pm and found residents had attempted to tackle the blaze using a dry powder extinguisher, without success.
Fortunately, the spread of the fire had been contained because the bedroom door was closed.
Crews put out the blaze but the property suffered smoke damage.
