Teenager arrested after police car chase

A police helicopter was called in to help hunt for a driver during a high speed car chase on the outskirts of Canterbury on Friday.

The pursuit began shortly before 1pm the A2 near Boughton when he is alleged to have failed to stop when signalled to do so for a patrol car.

Other police cars joined the chase and the Kent Police helicopter tracked the movements from the air and helped with the search after the suspect abandoned the vehicle.

Kent police spokesman Jon Green said: "A 17-year-old boy from Boughton-under-Blean was arrested just before 2pm at his home address on suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently in custody.
