Georgios Bertolis celebrated his Canterbury debut by scoring the winning try in the 25-23 National League 2 South win over bottom side Bridgewater on Saturday, their first ever win at the Somerset club.
The young flanker, along with fellow teenager, winger Will Atkin made their first appearances for the side, and his late score helped the City club eventually squeeze home, despite not being at their best themselves.
Canterbury led by two points at half-time, but lost the advantage soon after the interval, and Bridgewater proved tricky opponents, as Canterbury's mistakes kept them in the contest.
Centre Pat Sykes and No 8 Ed Roche ran in two more tries, with Phil Gibson landing two penalties and two conversions, Canterbury finally conquering their Bridgewater bogey.
Gert De Kock saw his first-half try disallowed because of a forward pass, but Canterbury were relieved the long round-trip to the West Country eventually prove worthwhile.
