A virtual pub quiz raising money for frontline NHS staff is to include a number of TV personalities including Jeremy Paxman.
The no-nonsense University Challenge host will be joined by the likes of Tanya Franks from EastEnders, the One Show's Helen Fospero and the Marlowe's panto dame, Ben Roddy.
Organised by a governor at East Kent Hospitals, the quiz will be hosted live on Facebook and YouTube this Friday from 8pm.
Named the Great British Celebrity Virtual Pub Quiz, others taking part include BBC South East presenter Rob Smith, and actors Neil Stuke and James Barriscale.
Players at home will be able to answer questions in real time and submit their answer sheets online for the chance to claim the top spot on the leaderboard.
Alex Lister, who is preparing the event, said: “We’ve had conversations with the doctors and nurses whose lives have been thrown into turmoil by recent events and listened to what they say they need.
“We’re encouraging as many people as possible to take part from the safety of their own homes, so we can raise money to help out the heroes on the front lines of the war against the coronavirus.
“Everyone is welcome to play along at home for the chance to be grilled by Jeremy Paxman and others. I can assure people he’s just as terrifying in real life.”
The quiz will raise money for NHS staff, with players registering via Eventbrite and paying £15 per team.
Players not registering can still play along at home unofficially, but are encouraged to make a donation via JustGiving.
