Clangers back on CBeebies

The Clangers will be back on our TV screens next week when Kent's favourite whistling pink space mice find a new home on CBeebies.

The BBC is resurrecting the creatures created by Kent animators Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate.

The first episodes were made at Firmin's shed in Blean, near Canterbury more than 40 years ago.

The late Mr Postgate's son Daniel has written the scripts for the re-imagined Clangers, which screens at 5.30pm on Monday, while Mr Firmin is executive producer. You can have a sneak peek below.

Now the BBC has seen sense and brought the Clangers back here are some more we'd love to see get a remake.

Captain Caveman

Making its debut in 1977, this was the only show (so far as we are aware) featuring a mystery-solving defrosted caveman supported by a gang of Teen Angels. Ran for a mere three years from 1977 to 1980 and is due a 2015 reboot.

Hong Kong Phooey

He's got style, a groovy style, and a car that just won't stop - but the adventures of the mild-mannered Kung Fu janitor did grind to a halt after just 16 episodes.

Rainbow

Many myths and legends surround the post-TV fame activities of the Rainbow crew. Is Geoffrey really earning a living as a London cabbie? Did the man in the Bungle suit really audition for The Voice? (Yes to both.) They must want it, we certainly want it - let's make it happen.

Knightmare

Originally screened on CITV from 1987 to 1994, Knightmare has already been the subject of a 2013 one-off online remake as part of YouTube's - gasp - Geek Week. After that tentative toe-in-the-water surely it's time for Treguard of Dunshelm and his band of adventurers to make a full-time comeback?
