THREE people were taken to hospital after a head-on collision in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury.

They were an elderly couple from Canterbury whose Honda Jazz collided with a Ford Sierra driven by a man from Margate.

The accident happened near the Kingsmead roundabout shortly after 10am on Tuesday and police had to close the road for several hours to conduct an investigation and clear the scene of debris.

The victims had to be freed from their vehicles and were taken to Kent and Canterbury Hospital but their injuries were not thought to be critical.
