Thugs rob university student at knifepoint

A STUDENT has been robbed at knifepoint on the Kent University campus at Canterbury. Two men wearing black clothes and woolly hats approached him near Keynes College and threatened him with a six inch knife.

He gave them his wallet which contained cash and cards. Security guards chased the two men but lost them near the city centre. The incident happened at about 11.30pm on Saturday.

Both suspects are described as white and aged between 19 and 25. One had an Irish accent and was about 6ft. The other was about 5ft 9ins and had a southern accent.

PC Paul Hunt, who is investigating the robbery, said: "Clearly these men were out with only one intention in mind and that was to commit crime. Anybody who is willing to carry a knife is just as willing to use it and the victim did exactly the right thing by handing over his wallet and not having a go."

PC Hunt has asked anybody with information about the people involved or the incident itself to contact police on 01227 817154.
