A GANG of thugs are believed responsible for a violent rampage in which they assaulted anyone in their path.
Police believe the same men are behind four separate unprovoked attacks on young men making their way home early Sunday morning.
The first assault took place in Martyrs Field Road in Wincheap at about 2.25am when a 27-year-old was pushed over a garden wall and punched in the face causing minor injuries.
At about 2.35am a 24-year-old had his nose broken and suffered bruises to his face when he was attacked outside near Unwins wine merchants in Wincheap. He was punched to the ground where the gang kicked him.
The third assault was carried out by two men at about 2.40am on the footbridge over the A28 at Pin Hill.
The pair punched the 19-year-old victim in the face and then chased him across the footbridge where they caught him and again punched him in the head.
At about 2.50am another 19-year-old man was walking along the city wall at Dane John Gardens when the two men butted him in the face, causing him to fall down the steep bank and hit his head on a tree. He suffered cuts and bruises.
The men involved are described as white and aged between 26 to 27. One is described as 5ft 7in, slim and was wearing dark clothing. The second is around 6ft with spiky fair hair and was wearing a light coloured top with dark trousers. There is no description of the third man in the gang.
