Trains cancelled between Dover and Canterbury after lorry driver's bad day

Train services between Dover and Canterbury have been cancelled after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge - and then reversed into a bus.

Police officers were called to the bridge at Coombe Valley Road, Dover, just after 10am on Tuesday.

The collision with the bridge caused a girder to crack and Network Rail were informed so they could examine the extent of the damage.

Police said they understood the lorry then reversed into a bus which was behind it.

Train services were suspended and the road was closed, with a diversion set up for motorists.

Buses replace trains between Dover and Ramsgate and Dover and Canterbury.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the police on 01304 240055.
