Two men have been charged after a man was stabbed in a gang attack in Canterbury.

The emergency services were called to Canterbury Lane in the city centre following reports of an assault by a group of men.

The victim was found with a stab wound and was taken to a local hospital, from where he was later discharged.

Police were called to the alleged assault shortly before 10pm on Saturday.

As part of the investigation, officers later stopped two men who were travelling on a train through Ashford and a knife was seized.

Troy Reid, 19, of Bellenden Road, Peckham, south London, has been charged with possession of a bladed article and possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

Ramone Thompson, 22, of Peckham Rye, Peckham, south London, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article.

Both men appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court yesterday and were remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on May 9.

An investigation is ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal to any witnesses who saw the incident, or anyone with information, to come forward.
